CALIPRY

Calipry builds Shopify themes and publishes the measurements.

Every number on this site was taken from the published build of a real theme, on a date, with a named tool. The numbers that fall short are here too, with the reason beside them.

The measurements

Lighthouse accessibility, product 97 −3, 3 below target Shopify's own Buy it now button, white on its branded blue at 3.59:1. Themes are not permitted to alter that button's colours.
Lighthouse best practices, desktop 78 −22 Shopify's own third party cookie for Shop Pay and Shop accounts, set on shop.app. A theme cannot remove it.
schema.org vocabulary errors, 20 page types 0 count, no target 437 typed nodes and 1,285 property uses, resolved against the published vocabulary.
Theme authored HTML errors 0 count, no target Nu Markup Checker 26.8.6. Twenty four errors remain across the 20 pages, every one inside markup Shopify injects.
Theme check offenses 0 count, no target 84 files, Shopify CLI 4.6.1, with no configuration file suppressing any check.
Browser engines rendered and tested on 3 count, no target Blink, WebKit and Gecko. Add to cart and the cart drawer were exercised on each, and checkout was reached from the cart on each. No order was placed.
JavaScript asset files in the theme 0 count, no target The assets directory is one stylesheet and two SVG files.

Median of five runs against the published theme, not a local build. A draft preview injects a full viewport iframe with no title, which scores its own accessibility failure and competes for bandwidth, so nothing measured on a draft appears here. A signed deviation is printed only where the figure is scored against a defined maximum, which here means the Lighthouse categories. A count has no target, so it carries a rule instead. The mobile figures and the run to run spread are on the Splash page. Every figure is retaken after each release. If a number drops, this page drops with it.

What is not in the box

No build step.

The theme is the files you download, and they are the files that run.

No framework.

There is nothing here to upgrade, and nothing to break in eighteen months.

No JavaScript asset file.

Splash ships one stylesheet and two SVG files in assets, and that is the whole of assets.

No Sass.

The Shopify Theme Store does not accept it, and it was never needed.

No third party runtime.

Nothing on your storefront calls a server that is not Shopify's.

No claim without a figure.

If it cannot be measured, it does not go on this site.

The catalogue

Splash

A theme for luxury swimming pool and outdoor living stores. Tag a product and its buy box becomes a quote request wherever that product appears, because a build that has to be surveyed before it can be priced cannot go in a cart.

v1.0.0
Not yet on sale

Splash 1.0.0 is finished and is being prepared for Shopify Theme Store review. It is not on sale yet, and there is no date to give, so none is printed here. One theme so far. The next one is listed here when it exists, with its own measurements in this same table.

How a number gets onto this page

It is taken from the published theme.

A draft preview injects a full viewport iframe that has no title, scores its own accessibility failure, and competes for bandwidth on a throttled connection. Nothing measured on a draft goes on this page.

It is the median of five runs, not the best one.

Five runs of the same page on the same build ranged 45 to 90 on mobile, so a single run is not a measurement. Where the spread was recorded, it is printed beside the median.

It is retaken after every release, and it is allowed to go down.

Best practices is 78, and the deduction is Shopify's cookie handling on shop.app. It has not always been 78: the first audit measured 74, because a missing favicon was failing a second audit as well. That half was ours and fixing it moved the figure. What is left is Shopify's and stays until Shopify changes it.

If it has not been taken, it is left off.

A value that has not been measured is omitted rather than estimated, and rather than carried over from a previous release. A stale number is the one failure this site cannot survive.
